Natural Insomnia Cures - Relaxation Techniques
A very effective natural cure for insomnia is to learn relaxation techniques and practice them when you want to go to sleep. It takes a few night of practice but once you have mastered the technique it can be used to relieve tension and help you easily fall sleep. Of course it is drug-free and will help you relieve stress not only at night but during the day. Here is a favorite technique that we use to help us to fall asleep.
- Get comfortable on your back and relax your hand at your sides.
- Start with your face, your mouth slightly open, and concentrate on relaxing the muscles in your cheeks, forehead and jaw.
- when you can fill your face completely relaxed start concentrating on other parts of the body starting with the toes. tense then relax them then work up through the ankles and legs through your body relaxing each part as you go.
- when you reach the shoulders relax fingers in the arms make sure that you don’t tense already relaxed parts of the body.
- Slow your breathing try to feel your heart beating and all of your body slowly relaxing.
- once every part of your body is completely relaxed start to imagine your worries floating away as bubbles until they disappear in the far far distance.
- Try to visualize all the tension leaving your body out of the top of your head, through your toes and through your fingers.
- concentrate on slowing your breathing down more at the same time making sure you don’t force the breathing but let your body naturally breathe for you. Complete the exhale on each breath.
- Pick a color and try to imagine yourself completely enfolded in waves of this color.
- By now you should be completely relaxed and should easily fall asleep. Continue breathing slowly and evenly completely exhaling until you fall naturally to sleep.
